Why Oud Smells Different Than You Expect

One of the biggest misconceptions about Oud Oil is that if it smells too strong, too animalic, too leathery, or even unpleasant and people assume that is simply how oud smells.

What many people experience is pure Oud Oil but not all Oud Oils are intended for direct application on the skin or to satisfy the consumer nose. Many are meant to become part of a fragrance, where its beauty is revealed when combined with other ingredients. It is a raw perfumery material, just like many other natural ingredients used in perfumery.

It can be intense, challenging, and sometimes even irritating. That intensity is exactly what perfumers value.

The Oud Oil available in many commercial and luxury fragrance houses is different. It may be blended with other natural Oud Oils or aroma molecules to create a smoother, more pleasant, and more wearable scent. It is designed for the consumer, with each company developing its own recipe according to its clientele and fragrance style.

I hope this helps you experience oud differently.
